International Research Center

The International Neuroscience Research Center in the Chinese city of Bengbu (Anhui Province) is an ambitious and collaborative effort between theBengbu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Dutch network association "NVGF" and partners. 

In 2023 on May 10th, NVGF and the Bengbu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine elevated their collaboration by officially signing their partnership through an in-person ceremony in China. The ceremony included the presence of the Bengbu Municipal Health Commission from the local government, the local press and healthcare professionals.



Objectives

  • The main objective is to establish the first International Neuroscience Research Center in China applying integrated physiotherapy, preventive healthcare through continuous Sino-Dutch cooperation.

  •  The research center serves as a platform for personnel exchange between China and the Netherlands, facilitating clinical treatment collaborations between Traditional Chinese medicine and Dutch Integrated Physiotherapy.

  • The international research center also provide an accelerated option for conducting clinical research on Sino-Dutch physiotherapy while it also functions as an experimental platform for facilitating the exchange of physiotherapy research outcomes between countries. Since 2022, NVGF and the Bengbu Hospital of Traditional Medicine were already working together on a research in the field of Pain Neuroscience Education.


Short-Term Plan (1 Year)

  1. The research on neuroscience pain education and the clinical application of neuroscience education in the treatment of chronic pain.

  2. Localisation of the European Rehabilitation Assessment Scale.

  3. Establish and maintain a platform for communication in rehabilitation medicine between China and the Netherlands, including regular communication and mutual exchange visits.

  4. Exploration of cooperation between Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments and Dutch style of rehabilitation medicine in the clinical treatment of chronic diseases.

Long-term Plan

  1. Research on the economic applicability of neuroscience pain education.

  2. The application of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine rehabilitation in the treatment of chronic low back pain.

  3. The application of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine rehabilitation in stroke rehabilitation.

  4. Application of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine rehabilitation in Parkinson's rehabilitation.

Pain in Motion
Pain in Motion is an international research consortium between the Pain in Motion international research group of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and researchers from Ghent University, Antwerp University, University College of Applied Sciences Rotterdam, University of Valencia, Odisee University of Applied Sciences and Transcare Pijn Nederland.
